“The Final Four”

Monday, October 10th, 2011

Every spring the season changes and so does the sport, grass freshly cut, ballcaps on, the smell of fresh popcorn throughout the ballpark, beers being sold in the stands. Well, im sure you guessed it im talking about baseball season, during the spring players spend time training all for this moment. After a grueling 182 game baseball season there are only four teams remaining in the League Championship Series (LCS), two represenatives from the American League and two from the National League. Each year teams jock for playoff position and the chance to advance, this season these four teams remain:

 VS.       VS.

Milwaukee Brewers vs St. Louis Cardinals

Mil lead series 1-0

This series is going to be tremendous, and the fact that Milwaukee hasn’t been to an NLCS since 1982 is very exciting to Brewers fans all over. Taking Game 1 of the NLCS is a big confidence booster, like they need one coming off of a 96-66 regular season and winning their first Central Division title in franchise history. Obviously winning the first game was important, Did you know? The team that has won game 1 of NLCS has went to the World Series in 16 of las 19 seasons. As for the St. Louis Cardinals who finished 90 -76 on the season good enough for second in the NL Central behind the Milwaukee Brewers. Life for the Cards has been up and down all season long, with all the allegations about Albert Pujols’ contract distracting people, and the pitching rotation being a bit shaky this year the cards shook right into the postseason. There defeating the Phillies in five games in the divisonal series. Both teams are geared up who will make a push for the World Series will it be the red hot Beastie Boy Brewers or Will the Cardinals fly right into the Worlds Series

Detroit Tigers vs. Texas Rangers

Tex leads series 1-0

This ALCS is sure to be one for the ages, with the new found Detroit Lions the city is already riding a high now the Tigers look to show some signs of life. For starters this ballclub under the leadership of Jimmy Leyland took a 95-67 mark into the postseason, also clinching the AL Central first time since entering the division in 1998 and also haven’t won a division or anything of any sort since 1987. The Tigers sent five players to the MLB All- Star Game in 2011,including Starting Pitcher Justin Verlander and First Baseman Miguel Cabrera. After a dream- like regular season the Tigers outlasted the New York Yankees in the ALDS by winning 3 games to 2 and now face the Texas Rangers. After the departure of Starting Pitcher Cliff Lee the pitching rotation had gaps to fill, C.J. Wilson tied for a league best 34 starts while Derek Holland tied secong for most shutouts with (4). The stellar offense of the Rangers had 3 players with 30+ homeruns, Ian Kinsler had his second 30/30 season, and the Rangers finished with a franchise record of 96 wins along with winning the division crown. So who will win these two series my prediction is………………

2011 World Series: Milwaukee Brewers vs Texas Rangers!

Champion: Texas Rangers!
